Holzweiler AW20
Botanical installation design for the Norwegian clothing brand Holzweiler, AW20 show in Copenhagen 2020.
Holzweiler has a focus on sustainability and their Norwegian origin and the concept for their AW20 show was “Our Soil”, which I interpreted into a plant manifestation:
The abundant of our soil is growing, blooming, seeding and dying in every month
it is right in front of us – we just have to open our eyes to see it
The present January
Shades of dormant earthy brown trees, golden to washed out grasses, to red and
stonegray branches colours the environment we live in
It is the stillness before spring
before the seeds unfold
and it all starts over again
Based on Holzweilers wish to follow the present and be as environmentally friendly as possible the installation were designed with seasonal, local plants and bushes arranganged in 3500 litres of champost sphagnum soil from mushroom production. After the show the plants continue to grow in Holzweilers showroom courtyard and the soil is being used in organic production of flowers outside Copenhagen.

Green house construction & set designed by Snøhetta
The bushes, soil and plants where to emphasize the colours and tone of the AW collection and at the same time be as sustainable as possible.
The photos of the collection where taken in the end of the “green house” therefore the installation of plants were designed to create a depth when looking from the sides and ends.
The “green house” construction designed by Snøhetta where a nod to the future with its clear shape and corrugated glass distorting and reflecting the inside into an organic pattern.
A sound system that receives the electrical impulses from the plants were connected to the leaves and transformed into sound. The cables and system where hidden within the installation.
