Mapplethorpe Catalogue
The Munch Museum

Graphic Design and print work during my employment at Snøhetta.
The exhibition and catalogue explores similarities and differences between Edvard Munch and the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. It follows the thematic divisions as in the exhibition and flow of the main essay by curator Jon-Ove Steihaug. The cover is in flesh pink color with debossed black foil lettering and tipped-in portraits of Munch and Mapplethorpe. The catalogue is designed with images gravitating towards the bottom of the pages, giving an impression of a narrower book format. Together with the boldly used typography, especially in the technical sections of the book, gives the beholder a sense of the provocative and at the sametime delicate art by Mapplethorpe.
